LEARNING GOALS
  • Learn robotics knowledge

  • Deeply understand and follow the Engineering Design Process, which is a lifetime benefit skill.

  • Improve hands-on, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.

  • Through teamwork to improve students’ leadership and communication skills.

  • Gain practical skills in robot design, building, and programming.

  • Collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity are emphasized.

  • The competition sparks interest in STEM fields and prepares students for future innovation.

TEAMS
  • Elementary School Team

    • 4th Grader - 6th Grader, good start but very competitive 

  • Middle School Team

    • 6th Grader - 8th Grader​, high skills and competitive 

PREREQUISITES
  • To join the Vinci Robotics Competition teams (R411) - students must complete the R401 and R402 courses or have very strong knowledge of robotics competition or knowledge.

TEAM ARRANGEMENT & TIME COMMITMENT
  • 3 - 5 students per team

  • Team member roles & responsibilities (see the picture below)

  • Minimum 6 hours per week - usually 3 hours during the workday and 3 hours on the weekends.

R411 - VEX IQ Competition Program

Dates:

  • September - June

Time (May slightly adjust): 

  • Burlington: Thursday 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM & Sunday 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

  • Newton: Friday 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM & Sunday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

  • Total over 180 lecture & workshop hours for the 10-month competition season.

  • An additional 100 worship hours will be provided based on the team's progress.

Location:

  • Burlington Classroom

  • Newton Classroom

 

Grades:

  • G4+

Prerequisite:

  • Complete R401 - IQ Competition I and R402 - IQ Competition II, or have strong previous Robotics Competition Experience

Please note that our total sessions include the holidays listed below. No classes will be held on these holidays.

Holiday Schedule:

  • Thanksgiving: 2024, Week 48

  • Christmas: 2024, Week 52

  • Easter: 2025, Week 16

  • New Year's Day: 2025, Week 1

  • Chinese New Year: 2025, Week 5

 

Massachusetts Public School February and April Breaks:

  • February Break, Week 8

  • April Break, Week 17
