AI Summer Camp | There's a Big Difference Between Seeing AI and Actually Using It

After years of working in youth STEM education, we've noticed something:
Kids have no shortage of chances to encounter technology. What they're missing is the experience of actually using it to solve a problem.
Many kids have flown a drone, touched a robot, or heard about AI — but ask them "what can you actually do with it?" and most can't answer. That's not on the kids. It's a design problem with how most tech programs are built.
Experience-based learning leaves kids with one memory: "that was fun."
Task-based learning leaves kids with a different one: "I solved something."
That second outcome is what Newton AI Lab Camp is built around.
Drones aren't just flown — they complete search & rescue simulations and AI vision recognition tasks. Robots aren't just switched on — kids write the logic that makes them execute a real task. 3D-printed pieces aren't templates — every design starts from scratch, made by the kid. Electronics projects aren't demonstrations — they're built by hand, and they don't count until they work.
Every module has a deliverable. Because we believe tech thinking isn't built by exposure — it's built by doing.
And the drone is just the beginning.
The same logic runs through all 5 days of Newton AI Lab Camp:
👉 AI Robotics Programming — not learning syntax, but getting code to actually run and a robot to complete a real task.👉 3D Design + 3D Printing — from a blank canvas to a physical object, with every decision made by the kid.👉 Electronics Engineering · Hands-on STEAM — it's not done until it's built, powered, and running.
No "watch the teacher do it first" moments. Every camper leaves with something they made themselves.
Because what parents really want isn't a certificate or a highlight reel — it's a kid who comes home and can tell you exactly what they built and what problem they solved.
That kind of experience is what real STEM thinking is made of.
