R311-SP26-SA-NTN-Battle Bot Championship
G2+, Saturdays, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM, Newton
Program Description
Course Details: • Name: Battle Bot Championship • Date: February 28, 2026 – June 20, 2026 • Time: Saturdays, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM • Location: Newton Classroom • Grades: G2+ • Prerequisite: R301 Battle Bot Championship is an exciting, hands-on engineering class where students design, build, and compete with their own battle robots. Designed for Grade 2 and above, this course runs for 16 lessons (1.5 hours per lesson) and introduces students to advanced mechanical concepts through engaging, age-appropriate robot combat challenges. Throughout the course, students learn how real robots are built by exploring advanced mechanisms such as gears, linkages, motors, power transmission, stability, and structural reinforcement. Students apply these concepts to design a battle bot that can move effectively, withstand impacts, and compete strategically against other students’ robots. The class emphasizes the engineering design process—planning, building, testing, improving, and iterating. Students continuously refine their robots based on match results and performance feedback, developing problem-solving skills, creativity, and resilience. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will: Build and customize a functional battle robot Understand advanced mechanical structures and motion systems Learn how design choices affect strength, speed, balance, and durability Compete in structured, safe battle matches and a final championship event Practice teamwork, sportsmanship, and engineering thinking Battle Bot Championship is ideal for students who enjoy hands-on building, competition, and learning how machines work in a fun and motivating environment. It provides a strong foundation for future robotics, engineering, and competitive STEM programs.
